  17. I now do some things using perl on the PC that I would previously have
  18. done in SAS.  Both are useful.  Perl is faster and has better string
  19. manipulation capabilities; on the other hand, SAS has a lot of statistical,
  20. graphical, and data entry tools that perl doesn't.  Different tools for
  21. different jobs.

  23. SAS's major usage base is still on IBM mainframes, I believe.  Has anyone
  24. ported perl to VM/CMS or MVS?  I'd think that CMS would be a more
  25. sympathetic environment.
