  19. I'm well aware that the smudge bit is not required by Forth 83 nor dpANS.
  20. Unfortunately FIG and F-PC make use of the smudge bit and they are widely used.

  22. We once asked Tom Zimmer, if he would mind to abandon termination of word names 
  23. by characters with high bit set and allow full 8 Bit characters in word names. 
  24. The answer was, that the effect of eliminating this could have unpredicatble 
  25. effects on existing code and that he will not change it.

  31. characters. We've been working with an appropriate implementation scheme in volksFORTH
