  49. [FTP Release for Domestic Area]
  50.  
  51.     Since the first release of ICOT Free Software on 7th August,
  52. anonymous FTP has been available only from abroad.  On 7th September,
  53. anonymous FTP from domestic (within Japan) becomes also available.  
  54. ICOT Free Software programs are obtainable through anonymous FTP from 
  55. our ftp-server machine:

  60. [How to Get IFS Programs through FTP]
  61.  
  62.      The following is the standard way to get programs from the FTP-
  63. server at ICOT.
  64.  
  65.   1)  ftp ftp.icot.or.jp
  66.         Connect to ICOT FTP-server machine by FTP command.
  67.   2)  Name: anonymous
  68.       Password:
  69.         Login with the user name ``anonymous'', and input your
  70.         mail address as the password.
  71.   3)  FTP> cd ifs
  72.         Enter into the directory ``ifs''.
  73.   4)  FTP> get README
  74.         Get README file first.  This file contains overall
  75.         information on the ICOT Free Software.
  76.   5)  Find out desired files by referring to the directory structure
  77.         shown in README file.
  78.   6)  FTP> binary
  79.         Set transfer mode of FTP to image (binary).
  80.   7)  FTP> get XXXXX.tar.Z

  87.     By 1st September, since the first release of ICOT Free Software on
  88. 7th August, there have been over 200 persons accessed to the FTP-server
  89. machine at ICOT, and more than 1000 files have been transferred as

  174.     PDSS (PIMOS Development Support System) is a system to execute KL1
  175. programs on BSD UNIX workstations, and compatibility with the KL1 system
  176. on the Multi-PSI/PIM is preserved except in the implementation method and
  177. execution efficiency.  Executing large scale KL1 programs on PDSS
  178. directly is difficult because of several constraints, but relatively
  179. small programs or parts of large programs are executable on PDSS.

  182. September.
