- But slower than a slug compared to almost anything else. The PC version
- has an optional ($100.00) TARGA render output at 24-bit, soon to be 32-bit.
-
- This program has a wonderful modeling interface, simpler than anything
- else on the market including SGI packages, an incredible animation interface
- mediocre procedural textures and horrible slow rendering.

-
- For some reason that must make some sort of sense to it's creator,
- both JourneyMan (on the Amiga) and Playmation (on the PC, and soon Mac
- and SGI) is a *Ray-Tracer*. I am at a complete loss as to why a package
- so oriented towards character animation should be ray-tracing based,
- rather than Phong based. I, for one, have only seen *one* refractive
- character (in the Abyss) and that was not ray-traced.
-
- I have been told by the distributor that a 486 x 512 Targa image,
- would take 30 minutes to render on a 486-*50*. This is far too long
- for the program's avowed purpose, character animation. RenderMan could
- render the same scene in five to seven minutes on the same platform.
