- Hello netters:
-
- I have recently installed a copy of Freemacs and it has been giving me
- problems...
-
- I installed it with no problems and followed all the appropriate instructions;
- however, it seems that freemacs and MS-Windows do not get along :-(
-
- If I use Freemacs in a DOS only environment, everything seems ok (although I
- have seen Freemacs lock up after exiting and entering Freemacs a few times).
-
- Here's what happens:
-
- o Boot up my 486
- o Enter WINDOWS (no problems)
- o Run Freemacs from within WINDOWS. (no problems)
- o Exit Freemacs and exit WINDOWS
- o Re-enter WINDOWS and I get a data configuration problem and windows
- will not bootup and it tells me to re-run the setup program.
- o I require to re-boot my 486 in order to get windows to run the second time.
-
- To ad further problems... I disabled all sorts of drivers etc... and I found
- that the problems seemed to go away when I disabled DOSKEY; however, the
- problem eventually returned :-(
-
- Even with a DOS only environment, I find that freemacs will "lock up" after
- invoking it a few times.
-
- I like using emacs at work and I would like to use this program but it causes
- problems all the time and I find that I cannot use it without having to
- re-boot periodically.
-
- My Configuration is as follows:
-
- 486/33 with 256K cache
- 8 MEGS Memory
- ATI/Ultra Video Driver
- Vansi.sys driver installed
- DOSKEY installed
- 386MAX memory manager installed. ( w/o 386MAX, problem still exists)
-
-
- Any hints anyone??
-
- Regards,
-
- /David
