  13. I have recently installed a copy of Freemacs and it has been giving me
  14. problems...

  16. I installed it with no problems and followed all the appropriate instructions;
  17. however, it seems that freemacs and MS-Windows do not get along :-(
  18.  
  19. If I use Freemacs in a DOS only environment, everything seems ok (although I
  20. have seen Freemacs lock up after exiting and entering Freemacs a few times).

  22. Here's what happens:

  24.   o Boot up my 486
  25.   o Enter WINDOWS (no problems)
  26.   o Run Freemacs from within WINDOWS. (no problems)
  27.   o Exit Freemacs and exit WINDOWS
  28.   o Re-enter WINDOWS and I get a data configuration problem and windows
  29.     will not bootup and it tells me to re-run the setup program.
  30.   o I require to re-boot my 486 in order to get windows to run the second time.

  32. To ad further problems... I disabled all sorts of drivers etc... and I found
  33. that the problems seemed to go away when I disabled DOSKEY; however, the
  34. problem eventually returned :-(

  36. Even with a DOS only environment, I find that freemacs will "lock up" after
  37. invoking it a few times.

  39. I like using emacs at work and I would like to use this program but it causes
  40. problems all the time and I find that I cannot use it without having to
  41. re-boot periodically.

  43. My Configuration is as follows:

  45. 486/33 with 256K cache
  46. 8 MEGS Memory
  47. ATI/Ultra Video Driver
  48. Vansi.sys driver installed
  49. DOSKEY installed
  50. 386MAX memory manager installed. ( w/o 386MAX, problem still exists)
