  12. an Internet-connected site slowed down to a trickle recently, and
  13. everyone down from there is still catching up on old queued-up news
  14. batches....

  24. there is a much easier way to do this.  wait one, while I pull up the
  25. relevant line from my autoexec.bat file....

  27. set EXINIT=source c:\etc\exrc

  29. where my config file happens to be c:/etc/exrc (you can, of course,
  30. substitute whatever happens to apply on your system).  works very
  31. nicely, no problems.

  33. I wish I could remember who exactly it was that told *ME* this about
  34. a year and a half ago, so I could give proper credit, but I can't.

  38. ahh well, that's a different subject.  :-)  if I could find a cheap
  39. UN*X for my 386 (1.6 Meg RAM) that would still allow me to run the
  40. mess-dos stuff I've collected over the years (w/o rebooting all the
  41. time), I'd be switching in a heartbeat.  but that's another
  42. newsgroup....  :-)
