  14. I am currently managing a project in voice encryption which uses the
  15. new Motorola 56156 DSP chip.  My question is this:

  17. We have checked with Motorola and Domain Technologies (the
  18. manufacturer of our 56156 emulation package) and as far as we can
  19. tell there is no "C" compiler available for this chip.  We are
  20. currently using the assembler we got from Domain, but this is a long
  21. and tedious process, especially in light of the fact that much of
  22. the code we need to use on this chip, has already been written in
  23. "C" for use on the 56001 chip, which was a previous generation of
  24. this product.

  26. Does anyone out there know if there is a compiler available for this
  27. chip from any source? (GNU etc.)

  30. information you think might be useful.

  32. Presently we are taking the assembly language output from the 56001
  33. compiler, and modifying it for the 56156.  This is not a fruitful
  34. effort as it is extremely error prone.  Our only alternative is to
  35. re-write lots of code in assembly language, a process in itself
  36. quite error prone.
