- I am using a pair of T3000s for telecommuting. Very nice -- when
- I'm dialling work from home. V.32bis connections first time,
- every time. However, when I dial *out* from work to yonder, a
- curious thing happens: I routinely end up with CONNECT 38400/300!
-
- Two points: I'm dialling through a PABX, and I'm working through
- an exchange which is digital for incoming calls and analogue for
- outgoing calls [don't ask me why -- ask Telkom SA Ltd]. We do
- get cruddier lines dialling out, to be sure.
-
- But: if I dial manually and wait 'till I hear the tones from the
- other modem, then hit the Telebit's T/D button, all is cool. I
- can connect as I please -- 2400, 9600, 14k4, the lot. Presumably
- the PABX is screwing things up [as usual]. I guess one in ten
- connections which I dial via the modem actually work properly;
- two in ten give me 300bps connections; the remaining seven give
- me nothing at all.
-
- Can I tweak something on the T3000 to fix this [don't suggest that
- I upgrade to a WorldBlazer -- I'd have to ship the modem back from
- SA to Telebit, as Telebit's courier swapout service won't cross
- oceans \end{flame}]? Or do I simply nuke the PABX?
-
- Also -- who can let me have a list of undocumented
- registers for the T3000? AT~D1 lets me see a whole pile
- of inviting things -- what do they do?
