  12. I'm helping out the systems department at an engineering division of a
  13. large London transport company.  There are several remote sites that
  14. deliver fault-logging information to us.  We'd like to set up a server -
  15. BBS or otherwise - to accept modem dial-ins from these sites; each site
  16. would upload a data file to a particular subdirectory.

  18. Would a BBS setup be the way to go?  If so, what is the best well-supported
  19. commercial software to this end?  Whichever program we pick up must, at
  20. a minimum, be able to support 9 modem ports.

  22. Should we go with a multimodem card?  Must we have 1 or more 16550A's
  23. on the motherboard, or a separate serial controller?

  25. The machine used will be a 486, running MS-DOS 5.0, under Novell
  26. 3.11; there will be 30+ local users in a TCP/IP network.
