  10. From recent discussions on the net I understand that Zyxel plans to
  11. or has already released a ROM version that supports voicemail.
  12. I have the following questions:

  14. 1. What Zyxel modems support this? U1496E? Do I need the PLUS model?

  16. 2. What is the serial data format? Baudrate, etc?

  18. 3. Is voicemail software available under UNIX?
  19.    Is it possible to use this feature under UNIX or do I need the "realtime"
  20.    capabilities of a DOS machine (because of the datarates)?

  22. Obviously I am looking for a piece of software that lets me use modem dialin,
  23. fax and voicemail on one phone line.
  24. Some kind of "universal getty" comes to mind...
