- A plausible guess: the MS-KERMIT you have is setting up an interrupt
- handler for the communications port. When it is exiting, it is not
- de-installing it correctly. Thus, when your phone rings, the modem
- tries to send a "RING" to your computer. This activates the serial
- port interrupt which should have been disabled and the computer starts
- executing code at where the interrupt handler used to live. Or
- something similar. Try a newer version of MS-KERMIT, or try briefly
- running another term program after it, it might restore things correctly.
