- In response to the recent "v.fast" discussions, I solicited the
- help of one of our marketing people. The letter below isn't very
- meaty (in a technical sense), but it does answer the question
- about the Codex 326XFAST modem posed above. Enjoy.

- ! Greg,
- !
- ! Here's something you can put out in response.
- !
- ! The US contingent to the CCITT has made significant progress
- ! toward the definition of the V.Fast standard. Many
- ! contribtuions have been made, but a draft standard is not yet
- ! available.
- !
- ! Several vendors have made "V.Fast" announcements intended to
- ! provide a migration path for users purchasing V.32bis modems
- ! today. Motorola Codex is shipping a product that supports their
- ! proposed implementation of V.Fast called the 326XFAST series.
- ! These products support speeds up to 24Kbps sync and 115.2Kbps
- ! Async and automatic fallback compatibilty with standard
- ! V.32bis, V.32, V.22bis V.22, 212 and 103 modems. The Codex
- ! product comes with a no-charge upgrade to the CCITT adopted
- ! standard once released. Codex's aim is to bring V.Fast saving
- ! to users today and compatiblity with the standard when it
- ! arrives.
