- I just rescently purchased a PP14400FXSA modem and I'm having a
- problem with it. If I try to connect to a 2400 v.42bis modem while
- my computer to modem is greater than 2400 and register 37 which controls
- the maximum dce speed is set to 0 the 2 modems never finish handshaking.
- The only solution I have found is to either set my modem to computer
- speed to 2400 when calling these modems or set register 37 to 6 so
- that the maximum dce (modem to modem) speed is 2400. My questions
- are has anyone else with this modem had the same problem and has anyone
- with another v.32bis modem had the same problem? Note that my modem
- is external and that it works fine when connecting to any other type
- of modem including 2400 baud modems without v.42bis. Please email
- responses to me as soon as possible because I need to decide if I'm
- going to keep the modem. If this behavior is typical of v.32bis modems
- while connecting to 2400 baud v.42bis modems then I will probably keep
- it, but if not then I probably won't. Thanks for all the help!
