  12. I just rescently purchased a PP14400FXSA modem and I'm having a
  13. problem with it.  If I try to connect to a 2400 v.42bis modem while
  14. my computer to modem is greater than 2400 and register 37 which controls
  15. the maximum dce speed is set to 0 the 2 modems never finish handshaking.
  16. The only solution I have found is to either set my modem to computer
  17. speed to 2400 when calling these modems or set register 37 to 6 so
  18. that the maximum dce (modem to modem) speed is 2400.  My questions
  19. are has anyone else with this modem had the same problem and has anyone
  20. with another v.32bis modem had the same problem?  Note that my modem
  21. is external and that it works fine when connecting to any other type
  22. of modem including 2400 baud modems without v.42bis.  Please email
  23. responses to me as soon as possible because I need to decide if I'm
  24. going to keep the modem.  If this behavior is typical of v.32bis modems
  25. while connecting to 2400 baud v.42bis modems then I will probably keep
  26. it, but if not then I probably won't.  Thanks for all the help!
