- We are replacing 64 dial up modems with new high speed modems that are
- V.32bis/V.42bis with a DTE speed of 57,600K, run 14,400 synchronous etc.
- (i.e. they must be the latest and greatest and meet all the standards).
- With the large number of modems, prices and manufacturers, we are trying to
- select one that is reasonably priced, from a well established manufacturer.
- The modems must be available stand alone as well as on a card to mount in
- a rack in our computer room. We are leaning towards the MultiTech
- MultiModem V32B at less than $ 550. I would appreciate any comments on
- those particular modems or any others you may have found to be especially
- good in that price range. I find nearly all of them are very difficult for
- the average user to set up and some are not fully compliant with the
- standards. It would be nice if it could be upgraded to V.fast when the
- standard is complete.
