  11. I recently installed a new I/O card with what I that was a 16550 UART on it.
  12. It is a Texas Instruments chip and along with the TI logo printed on it, it is
  13. labelled as a 16550.  I am using the com port and it seems to be ok.  My
  14. confusion arose after I ran a couple of software programs (one shareware and
  15. the other under PCTools System Information utility) that are supposed to tell
  16. you what kind of UART chip you have.  PCTools told me I have a 16450 and the
  17. other program simply reported that a 16550 was not found.  Does anyone know why
  18. this might have happened?  Is there more than one kind of 16550?  Most of the
  19. information about this chip seems to refer to the NS16550AFN, is there anything
  20. to this?
