  11. Are there any operating systems (either commercial or research) that
  12. include transaction processing as part of the core operating system.

  14. ie: Can you start a transaction, update two files, and then complete
  15. the transaction; with all the commit and rollback implications.
  16.  
  17. If so, is there any experimentation going into building a database
  18. system that makes use of these transactions in such a way that both
  19. files and database tables could be updated in a single transaction.
