- Does everybody understand Oracle client/server and named user licensing
- policies?
-
- So far they have struck me as very inconsistent. I get different stories
- depending on who I talk to and depending on the platform, operating system,
- and network protocol.
-
- If you are interested in comparing notes, answer the questions below. I'll
- summarize all responses back to the net (and will remove names/affiliations
- for anybody who wishes to remain anonymous).
-
- 1) Did you have difficulty understanding Oracle's client/server policy?
-
- 2) Did you have difficulty understanding Oracle's named user policy?
-
- 3) Did you request a copy of the published policy? If so,
- - Which policy did you request?
- - Did you have any trouble obtaining it?
- - How long did it take to receive it?
-
- 4) Have you purchased a client/server license in the last year? If so,
- - What platform/operating system was it for?
- - What was the network protocol?
- - Did you additionally license each client separately or were clients
- included in the server license?
-
- 5) Have you encountered any negative sales tactics such as threats of license
- violations regarding either the client/server or named user policy?
-
- My thanks to any who take the time to respond. Again, please send responses
- directly to me. I will summarize in a week or two.
