- I believe that you are asking what an "AIM" is in terms of the unit of
- system-level performance measured on the AIM Performance Report.
-
- First of all, we use five primary criteria to evaluate and rate systems:
- Peak Performance measured in "AIM"s
- User Loads
- Utilities performance
- System Throughput
- Price
-
- AIMs is a measure of peak performance--the ability of the system to handle
- a multitasking load consisting of a standard mix of common operations. A
- common low-end workstation today such as a Sun IPX is rated at 14.4 AIMs.
- However, a large, multiprocessor machine such as the Encore Infinity 90 model 40
- is rated at 238.5 AIMs.
-
- For more information, look in your AIM Price Performance Guide. (If you
- don't have one, send mail to benchinfo@aim.com. Be sure to include
- your name, company, and US Mail address. AIM will send a free PPG
- as long as you are in the US. International customers must pay for
- shipping.)
