- I am interested in setting up a multi-user database using an IBM compatible
- system. I would like to use DOS but I am open to using another operating
- system (I do want to keep my cost down). The type of system I expect to
- develop serves users with database features, providing them access to a
- database which I will maintain. I would like to begin with three multiple
- users then grow from there (with at least a potential of ten users using
- the database at the same time). The users will access this BBS system through
- regular phone lines. Any information about setting up a system like this
- would be helpful. I have just started developing this BBS system
- and need to know things like: what BBS software could I use, what database
- software can support multiple users and still look great over a BBS network,
- how much processing power will I need to support these users (How do I
- determine this?), how would I connect more than one PC to access the common
- database to support more users, is there one modem on the market that supports
- multiple phone lines, is there a number to a tech. application engineer which
- I can talk to about this application, etc.
-
- I don't think this is a trival task and have posted this message before; however
- as of yet, have not gotten any response. I don't know if others do not
- understand this question or if no one has this experience. Please if you
- have experience with setting up multi-node networks, and do not understand
- this question please send me a message indicating this, so that I can
- clarify myself. Your help is needed.
