  21.     In all the replies to this quotation, no one seems to be
  22. aware that Asimov was being ironic.  He was writing about a
  23. society in which no one did original science and Lord Dorwin
  24. represented the numbing orthodoxy which was suspicious of
  25. new ideas and new research.
