- In reply to Alan Hagyard's question about Course Reserve List --
-
-
- At Yale, we have developed a series of C and SAS programs to generate
- the various course reserve lists for public use (Comprehensive
- Course List, Supplemental Course List, Closed Reserve Course List) and
- for staff use (Stamping/Go-Get List).
-
- The Comprehensive Course List is generated once a week. It's now total up to
- about 550 pages (there are about 12,000 - 15,000 course reserve statements in
- the Item file for a semester). The List is grouped by libraries/branches, and
- within each library, the items are sorted by Course Number (and printed with a
- page break for each different Course Number). For each item, the following
- fields are printed/displayed (all on one line): Author, Title, Call Number,
- Location (with loan period), and number of copies of the item available on
- reserve.
-
- The Supplemental Course List is generated on days of the week when the
- Comprehensive Course List is not run. Thus, the Supplemental Course List picks
- up new items (by scanning the Action Date field in the Course Reserve
- Statement) that are put on reserve after the generation of the previous
- Comprehensive Course List. The Supplemental Course List is relatively small
- and the number of pages varies from day to day.
