- This is a multi-subject post:
-
- About the error messages when using Ibid w/ NB4 (it
- says to "install IBID files" when you clearly _do_
- have Ibid., I too receive this; I chalked it up
- to "pre-release" lapses in the version I have,
- about which I have written previously (my nb.com
- and nbedit.exe are dated 8/20/92). However,
- those messages are just to make your life crazier
- than it is; if you have installed Ibid from
- the get go while installing NB4 (or listen to
- that spurious message and _re-_install Ibid),
- the message in the "set-access-ibid" will
- _still_ be something like "cant find . . .
- install Ibid." Ignore it, trust in what you
- have (more or less), and just go ahead and start
- using Ibid.
-
- b) Windows: after having everything running
- smoothly w/ procom and NB3 (the only two apps
- I like to hve open at once), now, under windows 3.1,
- I can run either ok, and exit ok; when both are
- open (ive tried all permutations of opening and
- quitting) whenever I quit _the last_ one,
- I get s big stop sign from windows, some
- kind of "general application error" and
- a "please quit and reboot", upon which it
- lets me quit whichever app was last up,
- quit windows, and the returns me to
- a locked computer. The apps run, and I
- can switch from window to window,
- but surely something is amiss. Does this have
- to do w/ the video routines in NB4. (BTW,
- techsupport people at 386MAX told me _not_
- to have the mono display area ("unused" in my
- setup) transferred over to UMB), because some apps
- make calls to it anyway. Is this going on?
-
- c) nbkey. As above re "who gets what in which release",
- I _did_ receive nbkey.exe; mine is dated 5/20/92, and
- is enclosed below in zip and uue format. Its no great
- shakes (the recently uploaded and darn useful Findkeys,
- (Im sorry my Amsterdam friend, I forgot how to spell your
- name), along w/ a utility on this list (also i forget the
- name, i think its by Tony), will do the trick. I run
- nbkey.exe from dos, w/ nb not loaded. In addition,
- none of the control keys (escape, etc.), can be re-mapped
- using the version of nbkey.exe I have (or any of them,
- for all I know).
-
- I now see I didn't follow my mainframe's syntax correctly in
- preparing a file for inclusion in a letter already begun.
-
- Will send nbkey.exe (in zip and f=uue) in a followup instanto.
