  14. About the error messages when using Ibid w/ NB4 (it
  15. says to "install IBID files" when you clearly _do_
  16. have Ibid., I too receive this; I chalked it up
  17. to "pre-release" lapses in the version I have,
  18. about which I have written previously (my nb.com
  19. and nbedit.exe are dated 8/20/92).  However,
  20. those messages are just to make your life crazier
  21. than it is; if you have installed Ibid from
  22. the get go while installing NB4 (or listen to
  23. that spurious message and _re-_install Ibid),
  24. the message in the "set-access-ibid" will
  25. _still_ be something like "cant find . . .
  26. install Ibid."  Ignore it, trust in what you
  27. have (more or less), and just go ahead and start
  28. using Ibid.

  30. b) Windows:  after having everything running
  31. smoothly w/ procom and NB3 (the only two apps
  32. I like to hve open at once), now, under windows 3.1,
  33. I can run either ok, and exit ok; when both are
  34. open (ive tried all permutations of opening and
  35. quitting) whenever I quit _the last_ one,
  36. I get s big stop sign from windows, some
  37. kind of "general application error" and
  38. a "please quit and reboot", upon which it
  39. lets me quit whichever app was last up,
  40. quit windows, and the returns me to
  41. a locked computer.  The apps run, and I
  42. can switch from window to window,
  43. but surely something is amiss.  Does this have
  44. to do w/ the video routines in NB4.  (BTW,
  45. techsupport people at 386MAX told me _not_
  46. to have the mono display area ("unused" in my
  47. setup) transferred over to UMB), because some apps
  48. make calls to it anyway.  Is this going on?

  50. c) nbkey.  As above re "who gets what in which release",
  51. I _did_ receive nbkey.exe; mine is dated 5/20/92, and
  52. is enclosed below in zip and uue format.  Its no great
  53. shakes (the recently uploaded and darn useful Findkeys,
  54. (Im sorry my Amsterdam friend, I forgot how to spell your
  55. name), along w/ a utility on this list (also i forget the
  56. name, i think its by Tony), will do the trick.  I run
  57. nbkey.exe from dos, w/ nb not loaded.  In addition,
  58. none of the control keys (escape, etc.), can be re-mapped
  59. using the version of nbkey.exe I have (or any of them,
  60. for all I know).

  62. I now see I didn't follow my mainframe's syntax correctly in
  63. preparing a file for inclusion in a letter already begun.
