- The color selection menu invisibly shells out, I gather, to
- an external program, so that during the selection process
- it is using the keyboard as defined *outside* NB. This may lead
- to unexpected results if you have customized your keyboard in
- any way. For instance, the color-selection program requires
- you to press F5 to save your choices. My autoexec.bat types
- ANSI escape sequences to redefine some function keys, among them
- F5. The only way I've found to undo this definition is to
- reboot without the key-defining line in autoexec.bat (that is,
- typing another ANSI string redefining F5 to null ("") doesn't
- do the trick.
-
- So much for anecdotes; now a question:
-
- What I'd like to do is have a black background with normal text
- and underscored text the same color on my VGA display. (The
- underscoring would be distinguished from normal text simply by
- the actual underscoring, not by color). So far, I can't see how
- to get normal and underscoring to use the same color--or how to
- make the normal background be black, though it is not hard to
- achieve this result in NB3.
-
- Similarly, I would prefer to have the ruler line and the command
- line be the same color, but the color selection program resists that as
- well. (As may be surmised, I was not unhappy with a monochrome
- display!).
-
- Any suggestions?
