- Hi,
-
- I am trying to use NeXT's in a mixed environment with HP Unix machines
- and DOS PC's. PC's (old, slow XT's) using NCSA Telnet act as VT100
- terminals and log onto the HP's and run WordPerfect. Printing is to a
- Hewlett-Packard LaserJet IIISI that is attached to the ethernet via a
- "JetDirect" card in the printer, which allows HP's and NeXT's on the
- network to print to the IIISI as a remote printer.
-
- We have nearly everything working with one exception. I'd like for a
- WordPerfect document to print from either platform identically.
- Unfortunately, the fonts I have available for the HP-UX version of
- WordPerfect 5.0 are not the same as those in WordPerfect for NeXT.
- After selecting IIISI Postscript Mode for the printer in HP-UX WP 5.0,
- the following fonts are available (these are the same as the standard
- fonts available on any HP LaserJet III series printer):
-
- CG Times (Scalable)
- CG Times Bold (Scalable)
- CG Times Bold Italic (Scalable)
- CG Times Italic (Scalable)
- Courier 10cpi
- Courier 10cpi Bold
- Courier 10cpi Italic
- Courier 12cpi
- Courier 12cpi Bold
- Courier 12cpi Italic
- ITC Zapf Dingbats (PS)
- ITC Zapf Dingbats 100
- ITC Zapf Dingbats 200
- ITC Zapf Dingbats 300
- Line Draw 10cpi
- Line Draw 12cpi
- Line Printer 16.67cpi
- Univers (Scalable)
- Univers Bold (Scalable)
- Univers Bold Italic (Scalable)
- Univers Condensed
- Univers Condensed Bold
- Univers Condensed Bold Italic
- Univers Condensed Italic
- Univers Italic (Scalable)

- I would prefer to continue using the "CG Times" family of fonts, since
- most of our DOS users are familiar with this font. (I lied. I'd
- rather dump the 100+ DOS machines and replace them with NeXT's, but
- the budget doesn't agree). This font is "close, but no cigar" to the
- "Times Roman" font that ships default on the NeXT. There is just
- enough difference that numbers of words on lines don't always match,
- even though I set both to size 12 point.
-
- Does anyone know where I can get a "CG Times" font for the NeXT that
- would be compatible with the built in "CG Times" on the HP series III
- printers? I know that Right Brain and NeXT Connection sell fonts and
- will try them tomorrow. I tried earlier today, but they were closed.
-
- If anyone has a better idea, please let me know.
-
- Thanks in advance,
