  13. I spoke today with Mike Kalt, who is the manager of graphics
  14. devices technical support at SAS.  Mr. Kalt told me that they
  15. are considering support for the following configuration, but
  16. that Development is hesitant because "they just don't see
  17. the demand for it."  The official method for printing in this
  18. configuration is to download the graphic file to a PC and THEN
  19. print it.

  21. As a side note, we had this configuration WORKING under 6.06,
  22. but it does not work under 6.07, and wasn't (I am now told)
  23. officially supported.

  25. The configuration in question:
  26.  
  27.     HP Laserjets (or other printers) attached to a 7171 protocol
  28.        converter.
  29.  
  30. If you would like to see support for 7171 attached graphics printers
  31. in future releases of SAS, please send me a note with your Name,
  32. phone number, e-mail address, company or university, and preferably
  33. a current SAS license number.

  35. I have volunteered to gather the names of people to whom this will
  36. be beneficial.  Said names will be delivered to Development to
  37. indicate an interest in this configuration.
