  12.     Not only did the Aztecs do quite well without the wheel they
  13. also had a population problem.  One theory I heard for the hugh
  14. level of human sacrifice was to ensure there was enough food to
  15. go around.  Of course it was usually captives that were sacrificed,
  16. but if you didn't want to let them go and you didn't want to feed them,
  17. why not use them to cull favor from the gods.
