  13. Hi Denis: A number of researchers and academicians are still trying to define
  14. visual literacy. Here are a few examples: 1. the ability to read and write
  15. visuals; 2. a group of vision competencies a human being can develop by seeing
  16. and at the same time having and integrating other sensory experiences; 3. the
  17. learned ability to interpret the communication of visual symbols (images), and
  18. to create messages using visual symbols; 4. the ability to translate visual
  19. images into verbal language and vice versa; 5. the ability to search for and
  20. evaluate visual information in visual media. Visual literacy includes: visual
  21. thinking (sounds like your interest), visual aesthetics, creative exploration,
  22. visual linguistics, visual communication, visual symbology, visual expression,
  23. visual learning, visual education, visual awareness, visual understanding,
  24. visual creativity, visual evaluation, visual message encoding and decoding.
