SSINFO is a computerized campus wide information system operated by the
Office of the Registrar.  It currently supports a number of applications
that are accessible to the public.  It is proposed to develop a system that
will enable a student to access and update their student records using a
terminal or a personal computer.  Students will be allowed to logon to
the system either from on-campus terminal clusters or remotely via dial-up
lines or the Internet. Once on the system the student will be allowed to
access restricted information by supplying a personally identifiable
number. r.

We are currently in the design stage and hope to implement a security
system for restricted student access in the next few months.  As part of
the development process we thought it would be nice to get some feedback
on the different system that are now available at various college campuses.
We would really appreciate any information that would help us in designing
a robust security system here at Purdue.

For financial/management reasons it will not be possible to set up accounts
for 30,000 + students that attend Purdue every year.  We would like to
set up a system that will enable a student to set up his/her own PIN
number.  What are the various ways in which this has been done.  We have
some ideas but we would like to know of some more so that we can choose
the best.
