- Well, that's our job as we build CWISes, isn't it? The operative
- buzzword is "resource discovery". It seems there's two prongs of attack
- in this area: folks in the Gopher community are trying to come up with
- ways that we can coordinate our building of resource lists, so that we
- have central registries of online resources. And, I understand the
- Archie folks are defining a mechanism for information providers to post
- descriptions of services, so that Archie becomes a searchable resource
- guide, not just a tool to locate specific files posted for FTP.

- There's a role for both browsable lists of resources (eg Gopher) and
- resource databases that allow keyword searches (eg Archie).
