- I heartily agree with Bill. I have seen too many times the faculty gettin
- privileges that inconvenience other staff and patrons. Students can't get the
- materials they need for a class because some professor has it checked out for a
- year and has gone on sabbatical. Or if the item is recalled, the professor
- brings it back when s/he wants. In the meantime, the students blame the library
- because the item is unavailable and the professor punishes the student (i.e.
- lower grade) because the item is unavailable. The university library is NOT in
- existence merely for the use of faculty. The university library must learn to
- balance the needs of the many, not just give in to the few.
