  17. We have several problems using ODI drivers with Meridian Data CD_NET.

  19. If anyone can help me.......

  21. First our Workstation (AST and Tandon) configuration:
  22.  
  23. DOS 5.0,
  24. HIMEM, EMM386, SMARTDRV.EXE all newest versions shipped with
  25. Windows 3.1.
  26. LSL,    Ver 1.21,   7662 Bytes, 10.3.92
  27. (special card driver, different network cards)
  28. IPXODI, Ver. 1.2,  20903 Bytes, 10.3.92
  29. NETX,   Ver. 3.26, 52443 Bytes, 10.3.92

  31. Older EMM386, SMARTDRV.SYS, IPXODI, NETX show the same problems.
  32.  
  33. NET.CFG is available and loaded.
  34.  
  35. We have two fileservers running Novell 3.11.
  36.  
  37. Following the problem(s):
  38.  
  39. 1.) The keyboardrate resets to boot-default when a SEND msg arrives
  40. With this NETXversion the beep while SENDs arrive occurs TWO times (one
  41. high, one low).
  42.  
  43. 2.) Sometimes (not repeatable) the DOS DIR command fails until the next
  44. boot. This happens only on Networkdrives. All other commands are ok,
  45. programs will be executed normally. On local floppydrives sometimes the
  46. first access fails, the second try works.
  47.  
  48. 3.) Clipperapplications return sometimes "Not enough memory" (with about
  49. 600 kB free). SET CLIPPER=E000 has no effect.
  50.  
  51. 4.) Some workstations doesn't show the second problem but boot from
  52. time to time (aargh!).
  53.  
  54. 5.) In out network integrated are three CD-servers running Meridian Data
  55. CD-NET Ver. 4.3 / 4.2 (IPX peer to peer). The drivers can be loaded and
  56. unloaded on stations running IPX (linked) and NETX. On stations running ODI
  57. drivers the first try works, loading the drivers a second time will hang
  58. the PC when trying to run MSCDEX.
  59. The Drivers are:
  60. NWDRIVER (Meridian Data IPX Driver for connection to CD-servers)
  61. LOAD_EX (Meridian Data), which starts MSCDEX removable.

  63. All this appears ONLY on workstations with ODI drivers. The same
  64. workstations worked fine with "normal" IPX before.
  65. Why ODI?
  66. First: To use our new IP-Router
  67. Second: To use Windows 3.1 without new-linking the IPX.
