- Postscript is a programming language, not just a set of control codes. Since
- many programs that generate Postscript take advantage of the language to
- either reduce the size of the output or emulate some typesetter, it isn't
- possible to make a real 'Postscript-to-ASCII' translator. You can use
- Ghostscript on your PC or Unix box, or send the output to a Postscript
- capable printer. If you don't have a Postscript printer, but would like to
- get hardcopy output, you should be able to get one of the computer service
- companies or local electronic typesetters to print it for you. (Try
- 'WYSIYG' at 684-LINO, for instance.)
-
- Ghostscript is large and does take a little while to put together, but you
- should probably consider it if you are expecting to receive Postscript on
- a regular basis. (It took me an evening to get it running on my PC.)
- Alternatively, if you have access to a NeXT computer, it will render
- Postscript directly to the screen or printer.
