Tutorial I: Grundlagen der Spracherkennung - ein statistischer Ansatz

Das Tutorial befasst sich mit der Erkennung fliessend gesprochener Sprache auf
der Basis des Maximum-Likelihood- Ansatzes. Diskutiert werden die Themen:
* akustisch-phonetische Modellierung mit Hidden-Markov-Modellen
* Language Model
* effiziente Suchalgorithmen
* Architektur und Leistungheutiger Erkennungssysteme
Tutorial II. Autorensysteme (Dr. Manfred Krueger)

Das Tutorial vermittelt den Teilnehmern anhand eines Beispiels
* typische Zielsetzungen hinsichtlich der Anwendung von SGML
* eine Kurzeinfuehrung in die Syntax von SGML
* die Nutzung der SGML-Dokumenttypdefinition in strukturierten Text-
(Dokumenten-) verarbeitungssystemen,
* die Nutzung SGML-strukturierter Dokumente fuer SGML-Datenbanken und/oder
Hypertextanwendungen.
Tutorial III: Multimedia: Vom MPC zur multimedialen Telekooperation

Multimedia kombiniert eine Vielzahl von informationstragenden Medien,
insbesondere Text, Grafik, Ton, Bild und Video. Komplexe Sachverhalte koennen
dynamisch und mit adaequaten Medien praesentiert werden; neue Interaktionsformengestalten den Mensch-Maschine-Dialog natuerlicher. Die technischen Anforderungen
an Multimediasysteme sind dementsprechend hoch.
Das Tutorial gibt zunaechst einen Einblick in Technik und Anwendungen im
Umfeld des Multimedia-PCs (MPC), setzt dann den Fokus auf vernetzte multimedialeArbeitsumgebungen und endet mit multimedialen Telekooperationssystemen. Ueber aktuelle Ergebnisse eigener Forschungsarbeiten wird berichtet.
Tutorial IV: Informationserschliessung und -wiedergewinnung

Das Tutorial befasst sich mit Methoden der traditionellen IR-Systeme zuzueglich der neueren Ergebnisse der Forschung und Entwicklung zu diesen Systemen. Ange-
sprochen werden insbesondere die folgenden Bereiche:
* Indexierung (manuelle, semiautomatische und automatische)
* Modelle des IR (probabilistische, fuzzy etc.)
* Automatische Klassifikation (Clusteranalyse) der Dokumente und Deskriptoren
* verschiedene Retrievalstrategien
* KI-Methoden in IR-Systemen und umgekehrt

The accompanying exhibition gives institutions and companies the
opportunity to present project results, products etc. relating to
the subject of the congress. Special emphasis will be on products
of the language industry (spelling checkers, retrieval systems,
translation aids etc.).

Social programme
On Thursday, 5th November, Sylviane Pintarelly will give a
piano concert at 8.00 p.m. in the Festsaal of the Schloss. The
admission is free for all participants and the accompanying
persons.
The excursion to the Gasgeblaesehalle and the buffet dinner on Friday evening, 6th November is free for all full-time participants (Please confirm your
participation on the registration form). Other persons attending will have to
pay 40.- DM.
Deadline
Registration: Please transfer the conference fee to the above
account, if possible before October 20th. After that date
participants have to pay an increased fee.
For cancellations received after 20th October an 80 % refund will
be granted. Before that date the complete fee will be refunded.
