-
- Take a good look at...
-
- Bolter, J. David. _Writing space: the computer, hypertext, and the
- history of writing. Hillsdale NJ, Lawrence Erlbaum, 1991. Paperback.
-
- Bolter gives a great sense of historical development of writing, and the
- different approaches, strengths, and contribution that each new technology
- has brought into play. He looks at and emphasizes the possibilities that
- hypermedia brings to the table, and suggests the changes that will result.
- Bolter is in the Classics dept. at Univ. of N.C., and does a fine job of
- thoughtful analysis of the newest medium, complete with a broad view of
- the past experience of graphic communication media.
-
- At Hypertext '91 in San Antonio, George Landow absolutely raved about the
- book. He held up a copy, as I recall, and said, "Everyone involved with
- hypertext has *got* to read this book!"
-
- Bolter offers a freebie Mac hypertext version to purchasers of his book.
