- Hey Mark, why don't you go down to your nearest fire-pit and start a big
- bonfire with wood palettes. Throw on about 10 pounds of this Bismuth stuf
- you speak of. Then, once that catches fire, throw about a gallon of water
- on the burning Bismuth. My guess is that nothing of interest will happen.
- However, if you had done this with Cesium (or his favorite cousin
- Magnesium, found in Volkwagen crankcases for about $8/ea) you'd be well
- advised to run like hell soon after tossing the gallon of water.
-
- *THAT* is "why Cesium" and "not Bismuth". :-)
-
- BTW, you didn't hear ANY of this from me. :-)
-
- On a side note, I'm doing a senior-project for school on the Hall effect
- and one of my profs is running around claiming that, as far as the Hall
- effect goes, Bismuth behaves as if it has POSITIVE charge carriers. Anyone
- care to comment.
