- I think one focus of this newsgroup should be to improve the public's
- awareness of cesium, especially the young. One obvious avenue is DC
- Comics' Metal Men. For those who don't remember them, Dr Will Magnus
- is a science genius who created six robots animated by a "nuclear
- powered microscopic activator". Each robot was made entirely out of
- a single metal, and they had various attributes like the metal, and
- they could physically refashion themselves into any shape as they
- combatted various menaces, like Chemo, the walking chemical batch.
-
- The current team consists of Gold, Lead, Mercury, Iron, Tin, and
- Platinum (aka Tina). I think it shouldn't be too hard to convince
- DC of the importance of Cesium. Indeed, at the back of one issue,
- their "Metal Facts and Fancies!" blurb tells us to "Thank CESIUM
- for coating light meters".
-
- DC's address is DC Comics INC/666 Fifth Ave/NY NY 10103. I think
- they are available online somewhere. A concerted effort could have
- an effect. I mean, who cares about the death of Superduperman?
