  17. excellent book _The_Curve_Of_Binding_Energy_.  McPhee spent
  18. considerable time with a brilliant nuclear weapons desiger
  19. (Taylor?), and describes the national weapons lab culture
  20. and nuclear testing regimen as they existed before the
  21. end of the Cold War.

  23. I usually find McPhee's journalism remarkable for its lack of
  24. perceptible slant -- your mileage may vary.
