- My immediate response to this proposal would be to question whether we
- would be able to deal with the waste produced by such a program. After
- all, we've proved ourselves sadly unable to dispose of the radioactive
- waste that's been generated so far.
-
- My question though, is how much of the material that we have stockpiled
- so far is due to military programs, and how does it compare to the
- amount of waste generated by commercial reactors? Would it be resonable
- to expect that we could handle the waste of a national nuclear complex
- now that military should be stepping down its production?
