- Nothing has moved in this field, somewhere in Iowa, for several hours.
- If you don't count the random stirrings caused by the wind then it has
- been much longer. But now there is a slight movement of earth; a
- small hole opens up, and out crawls an eyeball. My eyeball.
-
- It looks around. It doesn't blink of course, since the corresponding
- eyelid is still somewhere in New Mexico. It dilates its pupil a little
- though, gets its bearings, and starts the long journey.
-
- A faint banging can be heard coming from the inside of a garbage can behind
- a fancy restaurant in San Fransisco. Seconds later the lid is lifted up a
- few inches, and a nose carefully makes its way out. Both eyes, the one
- in Iowa and the other in Bermuda, water a little from the stench.
-
- A woman hiking in Vermont is startled by what she thinks is a very large
- snake. She would be a lot more surprised if she knew it was my large
- intestine.
-
- Someday, someday soon I will be complete again. My liver and spleen have
- already met up in Kansas City.
