- This is to inform you about a VR conference that will take place at
- the University of Oslo in the fall of 1993, about a year from now.
-
- This VR conference will be a hands-on co-operative enterprise aiming
- at the fulfillment of the following two primary goals:
-
- (1) Every attendant will have ample opportunity to test
- state-of-the-art VR equipment
-
- (2) We will encourage the establishment of connections
- between different professional environments, spanning many
- different areas of study and applications, in order to
- spin-off new VR activity in Norway. To this end we are in
- negotiations with several companies about borrowing VR
- equipment.
-
- At this time confirmations include one big industrial company, a
- doctor candidate in pedagogics working with VR as a tool for
- education, a group of architects and students of architecture working
- with VR, a computer animation company and others.
-
- The program has not yet been worked out in detail, yet we would like
- to announce the conference at this early stage to facilitate optimal
- scheduling for any foreign VR researchers who would like to visit
- Norway. The format of the conference will be two (or possibly three)
- full days: a friday and saturday (and possibly sunday) in late august
- or in september. Norway is a nice country to visit and offer a wide
- range of recreational activities and panoramic views.
-
- The organizers of the VR conference come from a varied selection of
- professional interests and backgrounds. What we have in common is an
- interest in issues like VR, cyberspace, AI, nanotechnology, and
- so forth.
