  16. This is to inform you about a VR conference that will take place at
  17. the University of Oslo in the fall of 1993, about a year from now.
  18.  
  19. This VR conference will be a hands-on co-operative enterprise aiming
  20. at the fulfillment of the following two primary goals:

  22.         (1) Every attendant will have ample opportunity to test
  23.         state-of-the-art VR equipment
  24.  
  25.         (2) We will encourage the establishment of connections
  26.         between different professional environments, spanning many
  27.         different areas of study and applications, in order to
  28.         spin-off new VR activity in Norway.  To this end we are in
  29.         negotiations with several companies about borrowing VR
  30.         equipment.

  32. At this time confirmations include one big industrial company, a
  33. doctor candidate in pedagogics working with VR as a tool for
  34. education, a group of architects and students of architecture working
  35. with VR, a computer animation company and others.
  36.  
  37. The program has not yet been worked out in detail, yet we would like
  38. to announce the conference at this early stage to facilitate optimal
  39. scheduling for any foreign VR researchers who would like to visit
  40. Norway.  The format of the conference will be two (or possibly three)
  41. full days: a friday and saturday (and possibly sunday) in late august
  42. or in september.  Norway is a nice country to visit and offer a wide
  43. range of recreational activities and panoramic views.

  45. The organizers of the VR conference come from a varied selection of
  46. professional interests and backgrounds.  What we have in common is an
  47. interest in issues like VR, cyberspace, AI, nanotechnology, and
  48. so forth.
