- According to my KSC master plan (Map coordinate E2 & E3, the
- Press site is 16,400 feet from LC-39A (3.1 miles). The LCC
- is 16,800 feet (3.2 miles) and the forward observer site
- which contains emergency vehicles is 11,100 feet (2.1 miles).

-
- There are actually 4 VIP viewing areas. The Banana Creek
- viewing area is the closest. It is 17,600 feet (3.3 miles)
- from Pad LC-39B and 21,200 feet (4.0 miles) from LC-39A. It
- is a great view of the pads (at least until RSS retraction)
- because most of the area between the viewing stands and the
- pads is open water. Close to launch, the Rotating Service
- Structure (RSS) is moved away from the vehicle and its park
- site blocks a view of the vehicle at liftoff.
