- This reminds me of a total time-killer problem we had in grad school.
- Imagine a rope constrained to be vertical (ie moving) over some point
- on the equator (or relax for variants) and , oh, 40000 miles long.
- Forget atmosphere. Then you release the rope. Describe, even qualitatively,
- the subsequent motion of the rope.
