- Concerning Karl Friedrich Gauss:
-
- Howard Anton's "Calculus" 3rd ed. (pp. 1172-1173) lists yet
- another astonishing story about Gauss. When he was not yet
- 3, Gauss surprised his parents with his genius. One day when
- his father was computing the weekly payroll for workers under
- his charge, young Gauss spotted a mistake in his calculation and
- gave the correct sum. His parents rechecked the sum to find
- that little Gauss was correct!
