  14. Howard Anton's "Calculus" 3rd ed. (pp. 1172-1173) lists yet
  15. another astonishing story about Gauss.  When he was not yet
  16. 3, Gauss surprised his parents with his genius.  One day when
  17. his father was computing the weekly payroll for workers under
  18. his charge, young Gauss spotted a mistake in his calculation and
  19. gave the correct sum.  His parents rechecked the sum to find
  20. that little Gauss was correct!
