  11.        One try in this direction was an aircraft APU mounted in an
  12. electric car.  The APU, which was something like a 10-15KW gas turbine,
  13. was used to charge the battery.  The APU was cycled on and off as 
  14. battery charge level dictated, so it would switch on and off while
  15. driving.  Amateur effort, LA, mid 1970s.
