  22.     The siege mailing list is intended for the discussion of
  23. pre-black powder methods of attack and defence of fortified positions. 
  24. While the discussion of the downfall of the great siege engines caused
  25. by the advent of portable, and powerful cannons, is important, I would
  26. like this to be somewhat minimized.

  28.     My thoughts is that this would be used to discuss the myriad of
  29. topics applicable.

  31.     Physics            Mechanics
  32.     Materials        Construction
  33.     Transportation        Terminology
  34.     Historic evidence of use  - Manuscripts
  35.                   - Texts
  36.                   - Archaeological data

  38.     Historical reconstruction
  39.     Common myths, and misconceptions
  40.     and so on.

  43.     I would also like to be able to compile a database of books,
  44. references, and data for later use.

  47.     I would like to ask all who wish to participate, to try to
  48. re-define the commonly (incorrectly) used words such as catapult and ballista.

  55. To get onto the siege mailing list, just follow these real simple
  56. directions.... hey, I got them right!

  58. Send mail to :    siege-request@bransle.ucs.mun.ca
  59. and include a single line saying:

  61. subscribe siege <your name here>

  63. That's it!

  65. Then to mail to siege simply mail your articles to:
