  11. Forgive me for asking a 'look it up in the
  12. reference section' question, but I'm not familiar
  13. enough with the field to know where to look.

  15. Can anyone tell me what the Roman praenomen 
  16. used by the Fabii and abbreviated 'N.' stands for?
  17.  (example: N. Fabius Pictor, cos. 266 BC)
  18. Where could I look something like that up? (My
  19. Cassell's dictionary gives most of the praenominal
  20. abbreviations but not that one).

  22. For my own amusement, I'm studying the Roman Republican
  23. Calendar (as part of an effort to give my astronomical
  24. calendar dating software a classical education).
  25. Can anyone recommend a recent (post Degrassi 1947) 
  26. article or book discussing the consular Fasti?
  27. I'm particularly interested in finding out what's
  28. known about the early 4th century BC where the Capitoline
  29. lists have a gap, and also about the Imperial period.

  31. I also came across a book by Brind-Amour called
  32. (I think) 'Le Calendrier Romain Republicain' (or
  33. something close). Can anyone familar with this work
  34. comment on Brind-Amour's reconstruction, particularly
  35. of the intercalations? A lot of it seemed pretty
  36. reasonable to me, but it seemed to get weak in places.
