  11. My year of novice experience has taught me two things:

  13. 1. Buy a good pair of binoculars first, and learn the sky. See what you
  14. can do with these before you buy a telescope. I spend 10 times as much
  15. time with my 8x56s as with my 80mm refractor. And when you do buy a telescope,
  16. you'll still have plenty of uses for the binocs.
