- My year of novice experience has taught me two things:

- 1. Buy a good pair of binoculars first, and learn the sky. See what you
- can do with these before you buy a telescope. I spend 10 times as much
- time with my 8x56s as with my 80mm refractor. And when you do buy a telescope,
- you'll still have plenty of uses for the binocs.
