- Most of the policy discussion is about BSA policy. It's amazing how
- the scouting in the USA is so much on the "war path". I wonder how
- those people can teach their scout to be "FRIENDLY" (4th item on the
- BSA scout law).
- Taken from "The Scoutmaster Handbook", BSA, 1990:
- A Scout is FRIENDLY. A Scout is friend to all. He is a brother to
- other Scouts and all the people of the world. He seeks to understand
- other. He respect those with ideas and customs that are different
- from his own.
-
- And some pages ahead:
- A Scout is CLEAN. A Scout keeps his body and mind fit and clean. He
- chooses the company of those who live by these same ideals. He helps
- keep his home and community clean.
- I belive this is saying something like: If _*YOU*_ do not find yourself
- comfortable with your currenct company you should change, it is not
- _*THEIR*_ fault that you feel as you do.
- If you become sick at work, you go home. Your collegues (SP??) is still
- at work.

-
- Good idea, but I would rather prefer:
- rec.scouting.policy.bsa - BSA, and BSA only.
- rec.scouting.policy.misc - Others. Minimal BSA stuff.
- rec.scouting.wisdom - Non political.
