- Here are some opinions on stretching and getting up early:
- 1 - Stretching .. I think one very viable option is just not to stretch.
- I am very good friends with a number of world class marathoners and some
- of them stretch while others think it's a waste of time. There doesn't
- appear to be any correlation between performance (or injury prevention)
- and stretching amongst the folks I know. (This is probably not true in
- the short distance runners) It appears to be a very personal thing. If you
- find that it doesn't help I am not sure that I would try to fight it.
- Just go out, run, and have fun.
-
- 2 - Getting up in the morning .. First of all you need to get a really
- loud and obnoxious alarm clock and put it as far away from your bed as
- possible. Once you are up but still in a comatose state, one suggestion
- is to drink a little bit of a sports drink (Exceed, etc.). There may be
- something scientific behind why this works, like raising blood sugar
- levels, but either way it seems to help me get going in the morning.
