  14. In 1987 GM redesigned the cylinder head on the 2.8 (and also the 4.3-I think) 
  15. to raise the height of the casting where it meets the valve cover.  This enables 
  16. the gasket to be above the oil level.  The gasket is supposed to last longer 
  17. as it is not constantly submerged in the oil.

  19. My '85 Pontiac is beginning to leak pretty badly from the valve cover gaskets.
