- In 1987 GM redesigned the cylinder head on the 2.8 (and also the 4.3-I think)
- to raise the height of the casting where it meets the valve cover. This enables
- the gasket to be above the oil level. The gasket is supposed to last longer
- as it is not constantly submerged in the oil.
